In Xi'an, the heat of June was intensifying. From June 28 to July 5, 2026, the second national training and professional competency assessment for high-voltage testing technology was successfully held in the city. High-voltage testing technicians from the power industry across the country listened intently and took careful notes.

Training Phase: Solidifying Theory, Guided by Expert Instructors

From June 28 to July 3, the "Second National Training Course on High-Voltage Testing Technology of 2026," hosted by the Beijing Electric Power Training Center, was held in Xi'an. The curriculum covered a wide range of topics, including the application of high-voltage testing technology in UHV (Ultra-High Voltage) projects, the use of series resonance equipment in power testing, the analysis of common operational faults and testing techniques for instrument transformers, verification techniques for current and voltage transformers, testing methods for on-load tap changers and zinc oxide surge arresters, grounding techniques for electrical equipment, and partial discharge detection technology. Experts delivered systematic and in-depth lectures based on their extensive practical experience. Notably, Zhang Zhencun, Chairman of Xi'an Xuzhihui Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd., was invited as an instructor; drawing on his years of technical expertise and field experience in high-voltage testing, he conducted a session on "Power Cable Testing and Inspection." The training was characterized by frequent classroom interaction and a highly engaging learning atmosphere.

Assessment Phase: Practical Implementation and Testing of Real Competence

From July 3 to 5, the National High-Voltage Metrology Station conducted a professional competency assessment for high-voltage testing personnel in the electric power industry. Hosted by the National High-Voltage Metrology Station and organized by Xi'an Xuzhihui Electromechanical Technology Co., Ltd., the event saw participants gather at the company's facility, where the practical assessment took place.

As the provider of the practical assessment venue, Xuzhihui handled all site preparations and equipment calibration in advance. On the day of the assessment, the equipment in the facility's practical testing area was neatly arranged, ready for the participants' inspection. Conducted in accordance with the standard *T/CEC 315—2020: Specification for Training and Assessment of High-Voltage Testing Personnel in the Electric Power Industry*, the assessment was divided into Class I and Class II categories. The practical skills examination covered mandatory subjects such as insulation performance tests, impedance measurement tests, and metrological performance tests, comprehensively evaluating the participants' hands-on abilities and on-site adaptability.

Throughout the assessment, participants completed the various practical tasks in turn, demonstrating standardized and proficient operational skills while proctors strictly graded their performance. Many participants noted that the theoretical knowledge acquired during training was effectively tested and applied in practice, deepening their understanding. The assessment concluded successfully after the final participant finished their task. Those who passed all assessment subjects will receive a "Professional Competency Certificate for the Electric Power Industry" issued by the China Electricity Council; the certificate is valid for three years and can be verified or downloaded via the electric power industry talent development service platform.
