Product Overview Once a transformer’s design and manufacturing are finalized, its coils and internal structure are fixed. For a multi-winding transformer, coils with the same voltage class and winding method will have definitive parameters (Ci, Li), leading to fixed frequency-domain characteristic responses. This means the frequency spectra of the three-phase coils are comparable.

Interturn or phase-to-phase short circuits during testing, impacts during transportation (causing coil displacement), or coil deformation from electromagnetic forces during short-circuit/fault operation will alter the distributed parameters of the transformer windings. This further modifies the original frequency-domain characteristics, such as amplitude changes in frequency responses and resonance frequency shifts. The Transformer Winding Tester, developed based on response analysis methods, is an innovative non-destructive testing device for internal transformer faults. It is suitable for detecting internal structural faults in power transformers rated from 63kV to 500kV.

This tester quantifies the response changes of transformer winding parameters across different frequency domains. It determines the degree of internal winding deformation by analyzing the magnitude of parameter changes, the amplitude/region of frequency response shifts, and trend of these variations. This allows users to judge whether the transformer has suffered severe damage and requires overhaul based on measurement results.

For operational transformers, fault severity can be assessed by comparing the characteristic spectra of faulty coils—even without historical frequency-domain characteristic data. Naturally, having original winding characteristic data provides more accurate and reliable support for evaluating transformer operation, post-fault analysis, and maintenance.

The Transformer Winding Tester features a high-precision measurement system composed of a laptop and a single-chip microcomputer. It has a compact structure, simple operation, and comprehensive test/analysis functions. Users can operate it independently after referring to the user manual or completing short-term training.
